Brick is the oldest materials used for construction works. Bricks are used for Interior, Exterior, partition, footing, piers and other load bearing structures.
Basis on physical and Mechanical properties Bricks are classified as
1) First Class Brick: Water absorption for first class brick is about 12 to 15% of its dry weight when it is immersed in water for 24 hrs
Compressive strength of First Class Bricks is should not be less than 10.5 N/mm^2
2) Second Class Brick:Water absorption for first class brick is about 16 to 20% of its dry weight when it is immersed in water for 24 hrs
Compressive strength of Second Class Bricks is should not be less than 7.5 N/mm^2
3)Third Class Brick:Water absorption for first class brick is about 21 to 25% of its dry weight when it is immersed in water for 24 hrs
Compressive strength of Third Class Bricks is should not be less than 5.0 N/mm^2
